Today the sun shone. How nice! We were busy as you should be able to tell from the photos below.
Toys R Us was first on our agenda. Caleb had heard about the loud, roaring mechanical dinosaur but did seem a little impressed when he finally saw the big guy.
For a fellow who likes legos this is the place to be. I think we looked at every single lego set in the store at least twice. Caleb had an allowance for making a purchase for himself. Tough decision.
It seems as though every single kind of electronic game known to man or boy is available in this huge Toys R Us. And Caleb found every single one of them!
Time came to find something to take home to Tanner (little sister). This decision needed a little bit of female input. So John caught us in deep discussion.
Can you tell from Caleb's delighted expression how much he enjoyed spending time in the extensive Barbie collection. He wanted to pick and get the heck out of there. Just getting him to carry it to the cash register and paying was a chore. He did not want to be seen with a Barbie in his hand!
Then we found just the thing. Have your picture taken and they will put it in a background of your choosing then make it into a puzzle. Caleb actually submitted to having his photo put in with Dora and Boots (Tanner's favorite cartoon characters). It is after all for Tanner. We hope she will like it.
NYC has blocked off portions of the roadway in Times Square and made it exclusively for pedestrian traffic. In addition, the city has put out hundreds of lawn chairs for relaxing. We bought our lunch from a street vendor then sat, ate and enjoyed the passing scene.
Caleb has adapted to city living amazingly fast. He rides the bus and subway like a native. He crosses with the lights and stays in the pedestrian walkways as though there is nothing to it.
After some time hanging around Times Square we walked across the street to attend the Lion King.
This is a statue of one of the main characters in the show - Rafiki. After the show we strolled up the street to M&M world. This shop has three floors of M&M candy and items.
Caleb is proudly displaying the one pound of M&Ms he selected. He hasn't eaten much of it as yet (he is already in bed for the night) but it will be interesting to see how many M&Ms make it back home with him. We'll see.
