We have left Hawaii. The world and developers MUST respect the Hawaiian lands and culture.
Keep Hawaii Country - No more hotels please! Preserve native lands and resources. ENOUGH ALREADY!
Hi June, Our decision to go home early was a combination of many different circumstances. We found that it was extremely difficult to maintain a healthy relationship within the Thai culture, because they treat men and women so differently. Our age and placement was also a factor. It was difficult to be respected in Issan as a young married woman--who had no children. And my husband was treated like a God. Older couples have problems with the gender differences as well, but age helps with respect. There are 3 couples in group 118 who are still in Thailand, going strong. I don't think there's anything that can really prepare a person for the culture. And it's definately the culture that will challenge you more than anything. Good luck! My e-mail address is katevoss@gmail.com if you have any other questions :)
